There is a lot of discussion about what the tax profession will look like in the future and what this means for tax professionals. The ATO says that during recent conversations with tax professionals, they suggested sharing information to inform conversations with peers at discussion groups and with their practice staff. In response, the ATO created an online forum to encourage open and interactive conversations about the future of the tax profession.
The Tax professionals community aims to encourage conversations between tax and BAS agents, professional and industry associations, software developers and the ATO. To support the conversations, the ATO says it will publish presentations, videos and activities. The feedback provided through the Tax professionals community will be shared with members of the Future Tax Industry Working Group. The ATO says that as it publish more information and materials, it will keep tax professionals informed through the Tax professionalsnewsroom.
