The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Regulation 2013 was registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on Tue 5.3.2013. It specifies certain information that the ACNC Commissioner must include on the ACNC Register. The Register is maintained electronically by the ACNC Commissioner and includes specified information about each registered, and each formerly registered, entity. The purpose of the Register is to provide a single source of easily accessible public information on the NFP sector covered by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012 (the ACNC Act).
The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Amendment Regulation 2013 (No 1) was also registered Tue 5.3.2013. It amends the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Regulation 2013 to specify governance standards which registered entities must comply with in order to become registered under the ACNC Act and to remain entitled to be registered under the Act.

ACNC governance standards to be tabled in Parliament next week
The Government has announced that the recently registered governance standards for charities (contained in Australian Charities and Not-for-profits CommissionAmendment Regulation 2013 (No 1), registered on 5 March 2013) will be tabled in the next sitting week of Parliament (ie 12 to 14 March 2013). The ACNC governance standards are proposed to commence on 1 July 2013, subject to the Parliamentary scrutiny provisions contained in the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012.
The ACNC governance standards cover:
- the purposes and not-for-profit nature of charities;
- accountability to members;
- compliance with Australian laws;
- the suitability of those who govern charities; and
- the duties of those who govern charities.
