The Treasury Laws Amendment (2021 Measures No 2) Bill 2021 passed both houses of Parliament on 2/9/21 and received Royal Assent on 13/9/21 as Act No. 110 of 2021. This followed amendments made in the Senate.
The Bill will implement previously announced changes to the deductible gift recipients (DGR) and Offshore Banking Units (OBU) rules.
The Senate agreed to an amendment put forward by One Nation, which would require listed entities to notify ASIC about JobKeeper payments the entity has received (which ASIC would be required to publish). A similar motion was put forward in other legislation this year (eg the Treasury Laws Amendment (COVID-19 Economic Response No 2) Bill 2021). In that instance, the House rejected it and the Senate agreed not to insist on the amendment.
No other amendments have been agreed to. [LTN 169, 2/9/21]
