The commencement of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) now means that some of the most common dealings and obligations for charities currently registered with ASIC will be now be with the ACNC.
Chartered Secretaries Australia (CSA) has reminded public companies limited by guarantee, proprietary companies limited by shares, registered Australian bodies, or foreign companies, that are also a charity, of help that is available from the Commission. The CSA said the ACNC fact sheet on Charities registered with ASIC and the ACNC will help those entities to understand what they need to do, who they should contact, what changes they might need to make, and to which organisations their obligations will continue to apply. The fact sheet sets out naming requirements, what happens when an organisation is registered with both ASIC and the ACNC, and reporting and compliance arrangements.
