The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) has advised that it is now writing to inform all registered charities that their charity has been transferred from the ATO to the ACNC as of 3 December 2012, and to ensure they are aware that the ACNC is the new independent national regulator of charities.

The ACNC is asking charities to provide additional information to ensure their charity profile is complete and up-to-date, and that the ACNC is aware of any recent changes to their organisation.

Charities that have been transferred from the ATO to the ACNC will soon receive a letter from the ACNC asking them to confirm their charity details using the supplied form. Charities can check if they have been transferred by searching the ACNC Register.

If charities have not received a letter from the ACNC by the end of March 2013 and believe they should be registered, they should contact the Commission.
