Bills Pass Lower House – All Three

The following Bills were all passed by the House of Reps on Wed 6.2.2013, without amendment and now move to the Senate:

  • International Tax Agreements Amendment Bill 2012 – The Bill proposes to give the force of law in Australia to the Protocol to amend the DTA between Australia and India, and also gives the force of law in Australia to the Agreements between Australia and the Republic of the Marshall Islands and Australia and the Republic of Mauritius for the Allocation of Taxing Rights with Respect to Certain Income of Individuals and to Establish a Mutual Agreement Procedure in Respect of Transfer Pricing Adjustments.
  • Federal Circuit Court of Australia (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2012 – The Bill proposes to make consequential amendments to Commonwealth legislation to reflect changes to the name of the Federal Magistrates Court and the title of Federal Magistrates.
  • Customs Amendment (Miscellaneous Measures) Bill 2012 – The Bill proposes to make a number of amendments to the Customs Act 1901.

Bils Pass Senate – Australia – India DTA; Federal Circuit Court Consequential Amendments

The following Bills were passed by the Senate today [Thur 28.2.2013] without amendment and now effectively await Royal Assent:

  • International Tax Agreements Amendment Bill 2012 – gives the force of law in Australia to the Protocol to amend the DTA between Australia and India, and also gives the force of law in Australia to the Agreements between Australia and the Marshall Islands and Australia and Mauritius for the Allocation of Taxing Rights with Respect to Certain Income of Individuals and to Establish a Mutual Agreement Procedure in Respect of Transfer Pricing Adjustments;
  • Federal Circuit Court of Australia (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2013 – it will operate together with the Federal Circuit Court of Australia Legislation Amendment Act 2012, and makes consequential amendments to Commonwealth legislation to reflect changes to the name of the Federal Magistrates Court (to be known as the Federal Circuit Court of Australia) and the title of Federal Magistrates.
