Senator the Hon Arthur Sinodinos AO, Senator for NSW, has announced that he will be resigning as Assistant Treasurer with effect from close of business on Friday, 19 December 2014. He said he has written to the Prime Minister in those terms.
Senator Sinodinos confirmed that he had been confidentially discussing his ministerial future with the Prime Minister and Brian Loughnane, Liberal Party director, in recent weeks. On 16 December 2014, he said he advised the Prime Minister that the reports of the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption into the Credo and Spicer matters in which he was called as a witness only, would again be delayed from January 2015 until March or beyond due to a different case that will be heard by the High Court in relation to ICAC’s powers.
