The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) has released its updated Continuing Professional Education (CPE) policy. This CPE policy incorporates the recent legislative amendments to the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (TASA) which made CPE a registration renewal requirement for individual tax and BAS agents.

The CPE policy includes relevant examples to assist registered tax and BAS agents understand and comply with the Board’s CPE requirements. The updated CPE policy supersedes the Board’s previous CPE policy, but many of the key principles remain unchanged. Ian Taylor, Chair of the TPB, said “Continuing professional education is very important for registered tax practitioners as it keeps their knowledge and skills up-to-date, which assists in providing a high quality and professional service to their clients.”
