The CPI indexation factor, which is used for FBT purposes concerning remote area benefits (under ss 60 and 60AA of the FBTAA), for the September quarter 2013 increased 1.2 from the June 2013 quarter to 104.0. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) said inflation was running at 2.2% through the year to 30 September 2013 (down from 2.4% through the year to 30 June 2013).
Prices increased for a wide range of products. The most significant price rises in the September quarter 2013 were for automotive fuel (+7.6%), international holiday travel and accommodation (+6.1%), electricity (+4.4%), property rates and charges (+7.9%), water and sewerage (+9.9%) and domestic holiday travel and accommodation (+3.5%)
