The Business Names Registration Amendment Regulation 2012 (No 1) and the Business Names Registration (Fees) Amendment Regulation 2012 (No 1) were registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments on 25 May 2012. They make minor and technical changes to the relevant principal regulations. The Amendment Regulations commence on Mon 28.5.2012.
The National Business Names Registration Service began on Mon 28.5.2012.
Under the new service, only a single national online registration process is required (as opposed to the previous registration in each State and Territory) for a fee of $30 for one year or $70 for 3 years. Existing business names will be automatically brought across to the new system. Details of the new online renewal process will be included in renewal notices sent by ASIC.
